		<description>Nomadisk Paviljong Nomadic Pavilion (2021)

	&#60;img width="2016" height="1344" width_o="2016" height_o="1344" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/4ab0ef6f2f0142b1760e25e9b9881e8c5e5b74109d80ebe883062ecebbe6feff/esy21-Pias-paviljong-7801-b.jpg" data-mid="124901256" border="0"  src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/4ab0ef6f2f0142b1760e25e9b9881e8c5e5b74109d80ebe883062ecebbe6feff/esy21-Pias-paviljong-7801-b.jpg" /&#62;

Nomadic Pavilion is
a design proposal which integrates historical cultural phenomenon such as
Scandinavian forestry and the use of birch bark as a building material within a
context of architecture and design.&#38;nbsp;The pavilion is a
mobile construction with a wooden frame and birch bark as a protective roofing
material. Inspired by a spacious tall pine tree forest where the crowns provide
a protective shield. The pavilion will be a hub for discussions, workshops and
further education on topics like forestry, crafts and Scandinavian minorities

One purpose with the
Nomadic Pavilion is to demonstrate the versatility of birch bark and several of
its eminent qualities. Such as heat and water resistance, the preservative
qualities and the duration of the material over a long period of time. Today the material
is most commonly known as a traditional craft material or for its appealing
esthetics. When the
material is used in contemporary contexts, it is often based on its decorative
and tactile properties, the qualities as a building material are rarely applied
to benefit from.

Nomadic Pavilion aim to create a space for dialogue
about the Scandinavian forest. An accessible venue in temporary places that may
be new and unexpected, where extensive knowledge on the matter can be shared
with a wide audience. Talks and workshops
on themes like crafts, material, forestry and other cultural phenomena will be
arranged in the pavilion.

The project will
run from April till November 2021 with funding from Region Gävleborg and The National Swedish Handicraft Council (Nämnden för Hemslöjdsfrågor).

SPOK Punkt is a concept within the production platform SPOK, a meeting place aiming to bring local manufacturers and designers together. On display in the exhibition are examples of the material knowledge that is linked to SPOK. Our four furniture groups are developed by SPOK, designed by Pia Högman, Andreas Kojcevski Hansson, through a close collaboration with manufacturers from the first regional hubs to join SPOK. Västra Götaland, Halland, Blekinge and Skåne are represented through furniture in different materials and techniques produced by manufacturers listed at SPOK's digital platform.

The furniture groups are produced by SPOK based on the SPOK methodology (the reverse method) where design follows manufacturing and are produced locally by manufacturers within the SPOK hubs. Together, they represent SPOK's presence in the country and highlight the manufacturing opportunities that exist in the various counties.
SPOK Punkt was first shown at Lokstallarna during Southern Sweden Design Days 2022. During the summer of 2022 the furniture moved in at Form/Design Center.&#38;nbsp;

ABOUT SPOK
SPOK is a production platform that aims to gather and spread knowledge about local manufacturing possibilities ranging from handicrafts to industries. SPOK aims to promote the development of local production in Sweden and in the long term also more-local consumption. In 2020, SPOK was launched nationally and the following year the first four hubs joined, Halland, Blekinge, Skåne and Västra Götaland.

SPOK has its starting point from Form/Design Center&#38;nbsp;which is the principal for the project with Anna Gudmundsdottir as project manager. SPOK is founded and developed by Jenny Nordberg, who is also its creative leader.&#38;nbsp;SPOK has been implemented with the support of Region Skåne, Malmö Stad, Länsstyrelsen Skåne, Kulturrådet and Tillväxtverket

Kom Hit &#38;nbsp;Biodiversity (2020)
Top

Design is often based on human needs. In the project Kom hit (Come here) Pia Högman researches what happens if you change target group and look to the needs of insects and bees.

How can one design to promote biodiversity in a place that is adapted to humans? A collection of small spaces made from simple raw materials are built to make bugs and bees thrive in city surroundings.

The project is based on goal 15.5* of the UN’s Global Sustainable Development Goals, as the aim of the project is to create better conditions for greater biodiversity in an adverse environment. The installations also become a contribution to people’s living environment as the objects visually affect the urban environment and also favor the local ecosystem.

*United Nations Global Goal 15.5: Protecting Biodiversity and Natural Habitats.

Collection of Birch Bark &#38;nbsp;(2021)

Top

	Items from
the Collection of Birch Bark. The birch bark is processed in different ways, by
hand and by using technology
such as sewing, heat press and dyeing. With a modern interpretation of traditional
craft techniques the objects are shaped based on the
materiality of each bark sheet. The diversity in the material makes each object
unique in shape, colour, and volume.
Chosen articles from the collection can be found at Wanås Konst Shop.

		<description>Cured Series (2023)

    THREE
For the 10th edition of 3daysofdesign, the American Hardwood Export Council presents Three, an exhibition that looks to the next generation of Scandinavian designers. Three talented young designer-makers&#38;nbsp; – Anne Brandhøj&#38;nbsp;from Denmark,&#38;nbsp;Pia Högman&#38;nbsp;from Sweden and&#38;nbsp;Anna Maria Øfstedal Eng&#38;nbsp;from Norway – have explored the potential of three American hardwoods with the power to impact change.&#38;nbsp;Red oak, cherry and maple&#38;nbsp;are beautiful timbers that have become undervalued, yet their ongoing use is essential to the long-term sustainability of U.S. hardwood forests.

CURED SERIES

By applying a research-driven thinking to American red oak,&#38;nbsp;Högman discovered that this wood has equally untapped potential, due to it being frequently overlooked in favour of white oak. Keen to change this perception, she set about exploring how various surface treatments might offer new visual and tactile experiences.

At Three, Högman presents a set of five matching chairs, each treated with a finish that enhances the open-grained structure of the oak in a different way. Arranged in a satisfying spectrum of colours, the chairs incorporate both linear and curved panels, with details that highlight both the long and end grains of the wood. The designer hopes her experiments will help red oak to be seen in a new light. “My goal as a designer is not to simply produce products that anyone could make; it’s more important to me to contribute to something bigger, like giving materials new life,” she says.

Tjockis Fatty (2016)

Fatty is a series of ceramic vases inspired by naked bodies and the coiling technique. The irregular revolve of the oversized coils contributes to the vases anthropopathic appearance together with the soft nude glaze colouring.
